Thursday, November 14th

Our last full day in NY was set to be a busy one again.  We rode the subway to the USS Intrepid Museum.  It was an aircraft carrier used in World War II.  The museum was interactive and very good for the kids. All the war stuff is so mind-boggling.  Just incredible what they could do so many years ago.  Next was lunch at a 50s diner where all the wait staff sings and entertains at the same time.  That was a lot of fun.  Thanks for the recommendation Grandma Valerie!  Then we had to get some Broadway tickets.  Headed to the 1/2 price booth in Times Square.  Ended up buying from a scalper; so then we just HOPED that our tickets were legitimate.  They were!  However, we definitely took on the meaning of nose bleed seats, but it was fine.  We saw Matilda.  A story of a young girl.  It was SUPER good and we all really enjoyed it.  After we bought our tickets in the afternoon, we went to the Empire State Building.  We had already decided we were not going to the top since we'd gone to the top of the Rockefeller Center, figured it was pretty much the same view.  We still got inside the building and looked around and took pictures of course!  :)  Back to the hotel, rested a bit, and back on the subway to the Broadway Show in Times Square.  Sure a good thing we leave tomorrow, because we spent $14 on 2 bottles of water, and a bag of M&Ms at the show.  Whew!  Time to get out of the city!

One crazy thing we noticed was every night when we were walking the streets from the subway to the hotel or wherever, is that the businesses have to put all their trash out on the curb from the day.  Bags, bags, and more bags and lots of broken down boxes!!  Apparently they have to be broken down and tied together or they must get charged a fortune.  And then by morning it's all been picked up and is gone.  Crazy, but they don't have an alley to put their trash in.  Everything is delivered to their front door right on the street as well. There are tons of delivery trucks parked and unloading all their stuff, whether it's food, merchandise or whatever.  Everything happens through their front door!!!  Another crazy thing we saw was the parking during the day in NYC!  This place was 4 cars high!  All emptied by evening.  They have to know their departure times in order to know who goes where when they come in.  CRAZY!

While in the city, Garrett was really intrigued by the subway and Audree by the taxi cabs.  Wouldn't seem right if I didn't put some of those pictures in!   We took the subway after the show and the last thing of the day was to eat Waldys pizza which was right by our hotel.  Super thin crust, literally made and done in 6 minutes.  Carried it back to our room and that was that!!  :)
