Thursday, January 23rd

Today started off by cutting into those extremely juicy delicious grapefruits!  Yum!  Before we left this morning, we took a quick walk on the beach.  We found a lot of tiny sand dollars.  They are about the size of a quarter and smaller!  We are now out of Florida after 3 ½ weeks.  Tonight we are in Gulf Shores, Alabama, at Gulf State Park.  Huge place with tons of bike trails we’ll have to check out.  For dinner tonight, we went to this place called Lambert’s Café.  They are famous for their “throwed” rolls.  Yes, I know the grammar is BAD!  That’s how they spell it.  They literally bring out HOT dinner rolls, push them around on a cart and yell, “Hot rolls!”  And if you want one, you motion, and they throw it to you from across the restaurant!  Literally!!  They also play jokes on you at the table.  We had drinks “spilled” on us twice.  You know, one of those clear pitchers that had something in it stuck down, but looks like it is liquid.  Then the waitress, “accidently” tips it over on the table and you think you’re going to get soaked!  Ha! Ha! And other fun things too.  They bring around big bowls from the kitchen with other type of side dishes you might want to go with your meal that are called Pass Arounds.  So all the rolls, all the pass arounds, and all the food in the entrees.  We were stuffed!  We brought enough home for dinner tomorrow too!  It was a super fun place to eat.
Tomorrow we are headed to a couple forts from the Civil War.  More history!!      **Sara

  1. Oh, dear! At our house we think throwed rolls are normal.
